Sheraton Roma Hotel and Conference Center

Starwood's Sheraton Offers Convenience for Rome Business Travelers

Jan 11, 2009 Karen Berger

Starwood's Sheraton Roma is located in the heart of Rome's business district, between the historic city center and Fiumicino/Leonardo da Vinci International Airport.

The Sheraton Roma is a bit of a contrast to Starwood's center-city Rome properties, which tend to be historic buildings with a general air of traditional old-world elegance.

The Sheraton Roma is neither old nor historic; in fact, it looks like a lot of other four-star Sheratons in a lot of other major cities. But for business travelers to Rome, it offers several advantages.

Sheraton Roma's Business Amenities

  • It's not quite an airport hotel, but it's only a 20-minute ride (traffic depending) from the Fiumicino/Leonardo Da Vinci International Airport. In addition to the ubiquitous taxis, the hotel offers a bus shuttle service to and from the airport (although the schedule won't be convenient for every flight, particularly mid-day). Limousines can also be booked through the concierge desk..
  • It's about a 15 minute ride (5 miles) from the historic center of Rome. For tourists not on a tight schedule, the hotel shuttle bus has a workable timetable to the Piazza Venezia . (The bus also stops in the E..U.R. business district.)
  • Sheraton Roma is located in the main business district, making it convenient for travelers who are flying in for quick in-and-out meetings.
  • Business amenities are available: WiFi in all guest rooms and public areas, Business center with Internet and computer access (with printers and fax), limousine and car rental service. Guests booking the premium Sheraton Club rooms have access to their own lounge, which serves continental breakfast, afternoon hors d'oeuvres and drinks, and which has a computer work area and an outdoor roof-top patio.
  • The English-speaking staff and American-style food are a convenience for business travelers who don't have the time or inclination to try out their language skills or immerse themselves in the culture.

Recreation and Relaxation at the Sheraton Roma

The hotel has a pool, bars, work-out center, squash and tennis courts, a jogging track, a putting green (for Sheraton Club members only). A golf course is only a few minutes away.

For tourists and business travelers with some extra time to explore, the front desk will help book sightseeing tours of Rome and even destinations elsewhere in Italy.

Bottom line: Tourists looking for historic Rome and local flavor won't find it here, and would be far better off in the center city, where they can walk to everything. But business travelers, perhaps with a day or two to explore, will appreciate the convenient location, the shuttles into town, the business facilities, and Starwood's trademark service and hospitality. And Americans looking for American-style accommodations, familiarity, convenience, and food (but all served up with Italian friendliness), will certainly find it here.
